Marks Medal is a one of The Space Navies Memorial Medals. In fact it is our First One. It was created to remember my Childhood friend Mark Crozier who died tragically in 1976. The Coroners verdict was "He killed Himself." He was just 13 years of age at that time and had jumped from one of the top floors of a multi storey block in my hometown of Newcastle. At that time such a dreadfully young suicide was extremely shocking and almost unheard of yet as the years have passed more young children try to kill themselves, or even manage to do so, due to the effects of our increasing capitalist society with it's worship of wealth and status and the increasing pressures on the very young to perform well at school, in exams, find good jobs, be cool, be fashionable get a date etc etc and on the list goes. No One can know what Mark would have achieved in his life, maybe he could have become a doctor and found a cure for cancer or perhaps become Britains First Official Astronaut. He certainly would have one day become a very good Dad. As it was, he was My Friend, and I remember him for this. This medal is also a memorial to all lost children but especially those who have felt such pain that they have ended their young lives. Buy it and wear it with pride to show that you care and that you yearn for a world in which such a tragedy never happens.
One third of the price for this medal will be donated to a Fund which will be given Marks Name and we hope will eventually become a charity working to help young children in distress suffering suicidal thoughts and or feelings.
